Why We Are Shutting Down

Running a website with almost a billion searchable sentences, grammar checking, and other AI niceties is not cheap in terms of both development and infrastructure. But we knew this in advance. What we didn't know is that we would face an algorithmic penalty from Google, which we believe is from using scraped content (that's what search engines do though!). Without a flow of organic traffic, we cannot earn money through advertising or through premium subscriptions (which we also tried). Seeing that our end was near, we contacted Ludwig to see if they would be willing to offer our users a sweet deal. And they did! So please use it.
